Heart Plus Screening - $119

Who Should Have This Screening

• Age 45+
• Have a family history of heart disease
• And/or any of the following risk factors: smoking, overweight, lack of exercise, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high glucose

What Is Included

The screening includes:

• Blood Pressure
• CT scan of the heart (calcium score)
• Body Mass Index (BMI)
• Resting EKG
• Glucose and cholesterol blood work
• ABI - comparison of blood pressure in arm and legs to detect artery blockage
• Heart Risk Assessment Questionnaire
• Follow up call with a nurse to review results

Why You Should Not Have This Screening

If you could be pregnant, this test is not recommended. People with coronary artery stents, pacemakers, or metal in the left side of the chest from previous surgery are excluded from the CT scan (calcium score) portion of the screening. Partial refunds are unavailable for any unused segments of the screening program.

Screening Details and What to Do Before You Come

During the screening

• You will complete a form with information about your health history.
• A clinician will draw blood from your arm.
• During the CT scan, you will lie comfortably on your back while the CT scanner records images of your heart. Please avoid wearing shirts with metal buttons or snaps. Ladies should avoid wearing underwire bras. Radiation is involved in this screening.

The day before the screening, have nothing to eat or drink after midnight. The screening will take about 45 minutes.

Your Heart Plus Screening Locations

For your convenience, the Heart Plus Screening is offered at two locations in Jackson and Madison. Baptist’s staff can make an appointment for you at the clinic most conveniently located for you:

Jackson - Directly across from Baptist Heart in the Outpatient Cardiovascular Diagnostics, Suite 100, in Colonnades medical office building on the campus of Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.

Madison – 401 Baptist Drive, Suite 406 in Madison 

A member of the clinical staff at one of the Baptist Heart locations will take you through the steps of the Heart Plus Screening. When you are finished, he or she will enter the information into an electronic record for a clinic physician to evaluate.

Your results will be available via MyChart within three business days.

If You Have Questions About Your Results

Your results will be available via MyChart within 3 business days. If your results indicate a need for immediate follow up, a member of our cardiovascular team will call you at the telephone number you provided. If you have questions about your results, we recommend you discuss them with your primary physician by sending a MyChart message.

When You Come For Your Screening

In Jackson, park in the parking lot at the Colonnades medical office building. Check in at Outpatient Cardiovascular Diagnostics, located in Suite 100 on the first floor level of the building. To get to Suite 100, go up one floor in the elevator from the Ground Level. This is directly across from the Baptist Heart clinic.

In Madison, park in the parking lot nearest the 401 medical office building. Enter the main building and go to the 4th floor. Baptist Heart is at the end of the hall in Suite 406.

About Baptist's Screening Programs

1. Specific health criteria apply for all screenings. Participants will be asked qualifying information during registration.
2. Screening packages are available by appointment and are evaluated by Baptist Heart nurses and physicians.
3. Reports may be sent to you and the physician of your choice.
4. Insurance is not filed for most screening packages. Payment is through cash, check or credit card at both Baptist Heart locations.
