Inpatient and Outpatient Units

Inpatient Care

Should you require hospital admission for your care-for a surgical procedure, for example-you may receive care in one of several specialized units centered around cardiovascular care.

Cardiovascular Recovery Unit (CVR)

This 6-bed critical care unit is within our Cardiovascular Center on the North end of 2nd floor adjacent to our Cardiovascular Surgical Operating Rooms. It provides short-term recovery care to cardiovascular surgical patients.

Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)

This 10-bed unit is located within our Cardiovascular Center on North end of 2nd floor adjacent to our Cardiovascular Recovery Unit. It provides critical care to cardiovascular patients and select surgical patients.

3 North Telemetry (3N)

This is a 24-bed fully monitored unit located within our Cardiovascular Center on North end of 3rd floor. It is focused on the progressive care of our cardiovascular surgical, medical and procedural patients.

In addition to the dedicated cardiac units, Baptist's cardiovascular staff have the capability to remotely monitor the cardiac status of patients on nursing units throughout the entire medical center. This allows patients who have other primary diagnoses--joint replacement patients, for example--to remain on units that are focused on their specific needs, while at the same time to be monitored by cardiovascular staff for their cardiac care.

Outpatient Care

If your physician chooses a treatment that does not require a hospital admission you may receive care in Baptist's Outpatient Cardiopulmonary Unit (OCU). It is designed exclusively for outpatient care of patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures or surgery. For added patient convenience, the OCU is located within our Cardiovascular Center on the first floor adjacent to the Atrium.

Patients come to the unit for assessment before their scheduled procedures. During the assessment, Baptist Heart professionals explain the procedure along with potential complications and how long recuperation may last. Patients have the opportunity to ask questions and become familiar with the treatment area before the procedure takes place. Patients also complete pre-registration at this time. Hours of operation are 5:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
