Baptist Cancer Services' mission is to provide comprehensive cancer services, including access to research and advanced technology, through a dedicated team of oncology professionals. The program emphasizes a commitment to cancer prevention, screening, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and support.
At the Hederman Cancer Center, we treat more cancer patients than any hospital in Mississippi. Our cancer program dates back to 1946 when Baptist purchased a "deep therapy" X-ray machine for radiation treatment. The Hederman Cancer Center brings together in one convenient location the full range of preventive, diagnostic, treatment, support and follow up services that we offer, along with the years of experience in caring for patients and their families who are going through cancer care.
The Hederman Cancer Center is a state-of-the-art facility that provides cancer patients single-door access to all the resources of Baptist Cancer Services. Designed to address the cancer patient's need of easy access and convenience, this three-story center is connected to Baptist's Radiation Oncology Department, inpatient units, and the Colonnades Medical Office Building. This allows a seamless connection between all diagnostic, interventional and support services available to patients in every stage of treatment.

Designated to serve as the Center's single point of contact for patients and caregivers, the Navigator's purpose is to make it easy for patients and their families to access services and information. The Navigator assesses the needs of both patients and caregivers; directs them to appropriate support services; and educates patients and caregivers on any issues related to a patient's diagnosis. The Navigator also coordinates all cancer support groups and activities. Contact the Navigator at 601-974-6238 or 601-968-1121, or the Breast Cancer Navigator at 601-292-4548. Or, send email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Baptist Cancer Services provides a patient orientation program that gives patients and families a complete overview of cancer treatment, including information about radiation therapy, chemotherapy, nutrition, and other important topics. The program is offered twice a week; Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. During orientation, each participant receives a handbook containing all the information from the class, along with a personal health manager kit providing resources and other valuable information.
Online registration for Cancer Orientation is available with a valid email address. If you do not have a valid email address, you may register by calling 601-948-6262.

Support Groups meet periodically in the center and provide a source for information and encouragement for patients and family members. Baptist's Pastoral Care department provides spiritual support and emotional care through counseling, prayer and worship opportunities for patients and family members.
For patients struggling with conditions that affect their appearance, the importance of feeling confident about their appearance is heightened. Appearances, Baptist's retail boutique, specializes in hats, wigs, scarves and other products for cancer patients. It is located on the ground floor of the Hederman Cancer Center.
The Outpatient Infusion Clinic provides a full range of outpatient infusion and injection services for adult patients who do not require hospitalization but need to receive treatments on a regular or infrequent basis.
Meal planning, food preparation, special diets and menu selections are extremely important to patients undergoing treatment for cancer. The center's Nutrition Specialist is available to help patients, friends and family with the special dietary needs of cancer patients.
